PROJECT TITLE

Inclusive Humanitarian Actions for 'Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals' (FDMN) and Host Community in Cox’s Bazar Bangladesh

PROJECT BRIEF

The main two service components of the project are Rehabilitation & Disability Mainstreaming. Under the Rehabilitation services, CDD will provide multidisciplinary Rehabilitation services to the persons with disabilities of Host & Rohingya communities. The Rehab services included Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech & Language Therapy, provision of Assistive Devices, Referral, Home Modification, care giver training and disability prevention awareness session. 

 

On the other hand, under the Disability Mainstreaming component, CDD will work for making the other humanitarian activities/program more inclusive. The Mainstreaming activities are aimed to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. The project will strengthen the capacities of mainstream organizations and local authorities, advise and actively support them in the implementation of measures for inclusion.  Increased focus will be on strengthening the Age and Disability Working Group (a sub-working group to the protection cluster) and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities through forming and capacitating self-help groups and disability committees in the host community and camp respectively.

Objectives/Outcomes/Long-term Results

Overall Objective:

Rohingya and host community people with disabilities have improved health and well-being through rehabilitation and improved access to humanitarian services.

The project has two specific objectives such as:

  1. Improved health condition of the Rohingya refugees through access to quality home-based rehabilitation and referral services.
  2. Age and Disability inclusion is increasingly mainstreamed in the Rohingya crisis humanitarian context by sectors and mainstream humanitarian organizations

Major Activities

Provision of Multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation services, Assistive Device distribution, Home modification, Referral, Awareness session, Capacity building training, On-site technical support, Accessibility Audit & strengthening of Self-Help Groups/Disability support committees.
