ROJECT TITLE | Disability Inclusive Civic Engagement (DICE) Project. |
| PROJECT BRIEF | The “Disability Inclusive Civic Engagement (DICE)” project aims to enhance civic engagement by increasing access to inclusive technical and vocational education and training (TVET), skill development and employment opportunities, and civic rights for persons with disabilities in selected municipalities and city corporations in Bangladesh. The project will address systemic barriers to education, skills development, employment, accessibility and civic participation through inclusive TVET, economic empowerment, advocacy, policy dialogue and strengthened engagement of persons with disabilities and their representative organisations. |

Objectives/Outcomes/Long-term Results | Goal: Strengthen the lives of persons with disabilities by promoting social and economic inclusion through skills development, employment opportunities, and advocacy and active civic engagement. Objective 1: Enhance access to education and vocational training for Persons with Disabilities. Objective 2: Promote economic empowerment through skill development and job placement. Objective 3: Strengthen advocacy for disability rights and inclusion at community and policy levels. The project will directly benefit 1,316 individuals and reach 750,000+ beneficiaries indirectly. |

Major Activities | • Conduct accessibility assessments of TVET institutions, financial institutions and industries, and establish Article 9 Committees. • Provide technical support and capacity building to 15 TVET institutions and 6 OPDs to strengthen inclusive practices. • Develop accessible learning materials and adapted digital technologies, and provide reasonable accommodations, assistive devices, referral linkages and counselling. • Conduct community mobilisation and awareness activities on TVET and disability inclusion, including resource mapping and accessible information dissemination. • Facilitate market-relevant vocational training, entrepreneurship development, career guidance and life-skills training for persons with disabilities. • Facilitate internships/on-the-job training, entrepreneurship opportunities, participation in mainstream job fairs and employer sensitisation. • Strengthen right-based media advocacy through mobile journalism training, media monitoring and journalist orientation. • Organise policy dialogues, advocacy campaigns and accessibility assessments to influence inclusive policies, practices and budget allocation. • Strengthen the capacity of persons with disabilities and OPD leaders through leadership, advocacy and Bangla Sign Language training. |
