PROJECT BRIEF

Young women and men with disabilities in Bangladesh have increased income through the scale-up of the STAR model. Young women and men with disabilities, including those with deafblindness, have increased income, through replication of the STAR Model and ; Bangladeshi skills development actors have increased ability and accountability to implement disability inclusive skills development programmes



Objectives/Outcomes/Long-term Results

Long term improved wellbeing and inclusion of young women and men with disabilities in Bangladesh through increased and equitable access to decent employment and increased income.



Major Activities

  1. Identification of youth with deafblindness from CDDs existing database and assessment of readiness for support
  2. Based on the assessment selection of operational Upazila (sub-districts) in target districts
  3. Assess the types of disabilities amongst learners and assess reasonable accommodation needs
  4. Provide appropriate assistive device
  5. Orientation parents / primary caregivers, assessment of need and development of support plan
  6. In partnership with DPOs, conduct family, community and market awareness-raising activities to address stigma and discrimination
  7. Provision of 4-month “pre-training” support to trainees and primary caregivers
  8. Provision of 6-month ‘placement trainings’ support to trainees and primary caregiver.
  9. Support trainees to access disabled person card and disability grant from the Social Services ministry
  10. Coordination and awareness building of local government and non-government stakeholders. (UP meeting )
  11. Identification of Technical Trainers and Peer leaders
  12. Local market assessment to identify potential trades and local MCPs (home based and workshop)
  13. Training for Technical Trainers and Peer leaders (technical and inclusion)
  14. Training for MCPs (technical and inclusion)
  15. Accessibility audit of workstation and workplace (home based and workshop)
  16. Provide reasonable accommodation/modifications for the workplace and workstation.
  17. Placement of trainee with MCPs (home based and workshop)
  18. Provision of stipend to MCP
  19. Provision of stipend to Trainee
  20. MCP provides on the job training for trainees
  21. Technical Trainers and peer leaders provide technical and soft skill training
  22. Provision of stipend of TT
  23. Provision of stipend of Peer leader
  24. Covid 19 Safety measures
